Parbati Giri was a legendary freedom fighter and social reformer from Odisha. She is widely revered as the "Mother Teresa of Western Odisha" for her lifelong dedication to the poor and orphaned. Here are the key descriptions of her life and legacy: 1. Early Life and Education Birth: Born on January 19, 1926, in Samalaipadar village, Bargarh district, Odisha. Early Activism: Even as a child, she was deeply moved by the freedom struggle. She dropped out of school after class 3 to join the Indian independence movement at the age of only 11. 2. Role in the Freedom Movement The "Flying Scout": Due to her young age and agility in spreading the message of independence from village to village, she was often called a "Flying Scout."
